Hai Assalamualaikum. So finally i'm going to continue with blogging about microbiology :D
Firstly, for the first part of second semester, Prof Dr Sieo Chin Chin was the one who taught our class. We covered to big chapter which are: NOMENCLATURE, CLASSIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION and IMMUNOLOGY. What I can say about these two chapter is, both of them are so difficult. So many things that needed to be remembered.
Well, the first chapter basically we had covered it during first semester, but only in a simple context. On this semester, we learned about it more widely, it included about the process of nomenclature, classification and identification. Nomenclature, of course we have to know the rules, that is the most important thing. However for classification and identification, there were so many methods that were involved in the process. Example of things that I personally find it hard to memorize are such as 16sRNA sequencing, ribotyping, PCR. This is because, all these are definitely new things to me.
For the second chapter, I actually love immunology since secondary school. I could say that this is one of my favorite chapter. At first, I find that it was not so difficult to learn this chapter, but as we went deeper, I started to feel the pressure. Because, at the beginning, we were like revising of what we already knew about the chapter, and later on, we started to learn new things and some of the things we already knew, it just get wider. However, I still love this chapter :D
Basically, for this topic, we learn about specific and non specific immune response. Non specific immune response includes external(skin, mucous membrane, normal microbiota) and internal barriers(physiological barrier-fever, phagocytosis, inflammation).
2 types of specific immune response are humoral immunity (protection through antibodies) and cell-mediated immunity( protection through sensitized T cells).

On the last day of lecture, Dr Sieo did a quiz in a form of game. It was a grouping quiz. I am quite dissapointed with the marks we got, so yeah. I hope it will not be included in the carry marks hahaha. That's all I guess for now. WELCOME BACK DR WAN!!! :)
